Residents identified with drug and alcohol abuse problems may be referred into our special therapeutic program. In addition to the services provided in the Basic Program, residents enrolled in this therapeutic service also receive the following:
Additional Counseling Services
Educational Services
Community Outreach Exposure
Drug and Alcohol Screenings
Residents participate in weekly individual and group sessions specifically related to drug and alcohol abuse. Educational services expose the resident to the far-reaching effects of drug and alcohol abuse in relation to personal development, family dynamics, societal norms and expectations, and instills the rewards of sobriety and consequences of relapse. Each resident requiring drug and alcohol services is exposed to community support systems such as Alcoholics and Narcotics Anonymous, Adult Children of Alcoholics (ACOA), Alanon and Alateen. Weekly meetings are incorporated to allow the resident to share their experiences with others outside of the Ashler Manor community who may have similar experiences. Our goal is to help our residents reach a comfort level so they can continue reaching out to community groups after discharge. Residents will also have more rigorous drug and alcohol screenings to promote abstinence and sobriety, especially following home visits where residents may opt to make poor choices when faced with a negative environment or peer pressure.
